I called the store at 5:30 this morning, and the opening manager told me to stay home. He said the roads were "a sheet of ice." It's 7:30 now, and I still have not seen a single car on the state highway behind my house! We did lose power for about two hours last night, but everything seems all right for the moment. A little while ago I spoke with a friend who lives about one mile from me, and his power hasn't come back yet! The trees and power lines are covered with ice, and the temps are not supposed to be above freezing until Monday. This is a real mess.

I agree... Zem if you don't have to go to work... don't even risk it. I drive 
on country roads all the time, they are the last to be plowed and salted.
then there is the wind drifting the snow and adding it to the ice
underneath.... it just isn't a good driving combo.

Bonnie... many times the ice/snow will crack the branches as it starts to
melt, so I wouldn't believe your area is over with those issues.

Good luck with that Zem.  My advice would be to STAY HOME.  If you are
getting what we have...the snow is right behind it and won't stop for
awhile.  We had the ice yesterday..and the snow started early this
morning and HAS NOT STOPPED.

I just heard on the news that they are doing good at getting people's
power back on... they are down to 164,000 without power now. Whew... that 
still sounds like a lot to me.
I hope you don't have power outages or broken trees. I have a few broken 
branches but not bad considering what kind of weight they have had on

them.

It has quit snowing.... so it can't thaw fast enough for me.  I think it
will be Monday before it is over freezing.

I totally agree.  We are now experiencing freezing rain, which you know

weather. I've been watching The Weather Channel, and OK looks horrible.

Get ready if it is as bad as we have had it is bad.
We had a brown out a while ago but still have power... thank goodness.
It is still snowing and I can handle snow but we have a base of several inches of ice. Everything that fell for the first day has frozen solid.

people.
I would vote for you staying in... it will be over in a day or so... and 
it is not worth a broken bone or worse.

So far, no storm but we have one predicted. TN narrow and is on the
border of several fronts so predicting is difficult. We were supposed
