In the past, I have carpooled during bad weather with someone who worked
about seven blocks from my workplace. We do have all sorts of hills;
some pretty big ones just to get out of the neighborhood. The other
problem is there are a couple of curves and turns that are not banked
properly and are difficult in the rain, let alone in ice/snow. That's
why I love my manual; I can gear down without breaking. Hope your power
stays on and you have some nice indoor things that you need to do.

There is nobody out here who works with me, unfortunately. I wish I had 
standard shift, but mine is automatic. It is, however, front wheel drive. 
I'm sure you have a lot more hills than I do, but they make me very 
nervous...
