Re: self-sowers now bulb sale
Oh, Jim, I print blowups of the photos on glossy 8x11 photo paper. I print
quarter page bulb tags with all information plus photo for every bulb. I
specially package each and every lily bulb in a blueberry carton with wood
shavings. And still, sometimes they just sit there. Sometimes the problem
is color. I had 30 huge asiatic Enchantment for only $2.00 each and sold
only one. Several sizes of asiatic 'CT King' priced from $1 to $4 and
managed to move most of those by pushing hard. These are 2 beautiful,
tough, vigorous lilies, but yellow, and especially orange, do not sell well.
'Luminaries' is very pretty, but if the supplier's retail is $30 per bulb, I
can't imagine them going lower than $10. That's way out of the question.
Silk Road could be a possibility -their price is $12.50. If I could get it
for $4. I could probably sell a few for $7, but not enough volume to
interest the seller in giving me that price.
