It is my understanding that the anti-venom has a very short shelf life; consequently any that is not used must be thrown away.

Since I am not that familiar with poisonous snakes, will there be any after
effects that will not clear up cause of this?
And why, if this is common in your area, is the antivenom so expensive as
well as hard to find on hand? Seems the vets should have some on hand? What
about humans? Do they have a supply at local hospitals?

Thanks Eva. She seems OK this morning although the swelling is still there. Here neck area is the worst. It's like the fluid is stuck there. She's breathing OK though and I just gave her more benadryl so I'm going to go to work. I think she should be OK. My Vet is convinced the antivenom saved her. I'm just glad she's OK.
