Nope. Can't recall the other one at the moment--will have to rummage through my files--but it was a subtropical and exotic and not a hibiscus relative; this one seems to be a rather common native. Wonder why I've never seen it before?

Hi Jim,

   My first guess was Hibiscus coccineus, but the
petals seem a little
   narrow on yours.

   I agree though -- definitely a Hibiscus!  And
beautifully delicate,
   not coarse like so many others.
