It is ONLY 100 here today- still hot as can be. I'm stuck inside anyway with a stupid cold- just feel crappy and I'm sick of watching movies, but no energy to do anything else (except think of the giant list of thinks I'd like to be doing.)

Well guess I am the coolest (!!!) of the California crowd. 105 here today at 2500 ft elevation -- hottest I've recorded on my property. It only got down to about 75 here last night as I get the updraft of heat from the Sacramento valley. However I am comfortable with A/C and good shades, and so far all the cats and plants are fine. Slight cooling supposed to start tomorrow. Watched the fireworks from a gated subdivision with lake down below me -- great advantage of being up here on the hill, all the view and no crowds (and no homeowners fee).

Yep- here too. It is 108 at 7pm. It's cooling down- our high was 109. It was only going to be 105 today- but nope it was hotter! Tomorrow is supposed to only be 100- yeah right...I'll believe it when I see it. There were also ALOT of illegal fireworks here this year- usually there are only a couple- but wow- there were many many this year. Nothing close enough to concern me about fire at my house thankfully. I am fighting a rat battle again this summer. Where do they come from??? I thought about getting one of those electric shock rat killer contraptions, but I was too afraid some other little creature might go in and get zapped. So, yes, I've resorted to rat poison again. Thing is, this apparently is a really picky rat, and does like the first brand I put out...good greif.
