It is ONLY 100 here today- still hot as can be. I'm stuck inside anyway with a stupid cold- just feel crappy and I'm sick of watching movies, but no energy to do anything else (except think of the giant list of thinks I'd like to be doing.)

Yes, it is just hot. Not in the 100's here only the low 90's but the humidity has moved in with a vengeance so it's pretty darned miserable outside. My A/C is set on 76 which is warm for me and it feels like an ice cube in here compared to outside.----- Original Message ----- From: <sundrops@earthlink.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2007 11:01 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] It's just hotWell guess I am the coolest (!!!) of the California crowd. 105 here today at 2500 ft elevation -- hottest I've recorded on my property. It only got down to about 75 here last night as I get the updraft of heat from the Sacramento valley. However I am comfortable with A/C and good shades, and so far all the cats and plants are fine. Slight cooling supposed to start tomorrow. Watched the fireworks from a gated subdivision with lake down below me -- great advantage of being up here on the hill, all the view and no crowds (and no homeowners fee).--Barb, Grass Valley CA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Theresa W" <tchessie1@sbcglobal.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2007 7:36 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] It's just hotYep- here too. It is 108 at 7pm. It's cooling down- our high was 109. It was only going to be 105 today- but nope it was hotter! Tomorrow is supposed to only be 100- yeah right...I'll believe it when I see it. There were also ALOT of illegal fireworks here this year- usually there are only a couple- but wow- there were many many this year. Nothing close enough to concern me about fire at my house thankfully. I am fighting a rat battle again this summer. Where do they come from??? I thought about getting one of those electric shock rat killer contraptions, but I was too afraid some other little creature might go in and get zapped. So, yes, I've resorted to rat poison again. Thing is, this apparently is a really picky rat, and does like the first brand I put out...good greif.Theresa Cyndi Johnson wrote:We don't have weather, we have heat. It was 110 here yesterday and probably the same today, supposed to cool down to 108 tomorrow. We spent most of the afternoon under the sycamore yesterday, not cool but at least outside. Usually we go watch fireworks but you have to get there early for a seat, and the thought of sitting in the stands for 3 hours was too much. Instead we stayed at home. Since we're usually out I had no idea we lived in such a war zone on July 4. You'd never know that private fireworks are illegal here; I think there were just as many as at the fairgrounds. Fortunately nothing close by caught on fire. I'm going to pick beans tomorrow and see if I have enough for another canner load. My sister wanted zucchini and I said "Sure!". She got a bag with about 15 of them, everything I picked last night. Told her when I see her on Friday she can have more, I bet she won't take them.
