I guess having medical people in my family helps. For some time, I have been more assertive. I say, wait, I need to know more; I'm not through. Also, inform the desk when I am having to wait too long (not my dentist nor oncologist who are timely). I had not quite put my finger on the annoyances and as you say resentments of the process, but it is true. It is annoying to have so little control over one's time in this setting and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. It is not a matter of being ungrateful for the services, or unappreciative of the wonderful work of the doctors and nurses -- it just always seems like there should be a better way to deliver the care!
