Those cannas that Pam gave me...2 years ago....are now about 3 1/2 feet tall...and I'm thinning them out and moving them around. People don't think they are prennial in this zone....but they are. I have people stop me when I'm outside (I live off a major highway) and they'll ask me what "those tall orange and yellow flowers are!" When I tell them, they scratch their heads and say...they don't do well in this part of the state....well, YES they do....like rabbits...they multiply like crazy! I love 'em.

Well darlin' that's because they start popping up through the leaves and
mulch around mid-February here. Some of mine are 6-7' and blooming
already.
That's why I have to ship them by mid-March latest or they're too big to
fit in a box! The first Spring that Jesse was in Oklahoma, I took a road
trip up there in May w/ a car FULL of stuff including 4 big buckets of
cannas that I dug up in March. They just kept growing in the buckets and
were about 4 feet tall or so when I delivered them. Needless to say, I
had to use the side mirrors driving up there. Couldn't see out of the
car. Did I get some funny looks on the road!
Donna - glad all your "babies" survived the storm.
Thank God tornado season is about over, but then our coastal pals have to start watching for hurricanes! Ugh.
