Donna, I picked up a 3 gallon size at one of our better nurseries for $40 for the display gardens. Then not long ago I spotted them at Meijer's for much less, but a 2 gallon. They're just about everywhere if they haven't been snatched up and this means the price can be all across the board too. I think the > comment of "It is usually hardy here in our zone 5".... is just playing it safe. A lot of places guarantee their plants but they can't be sure the buyer will treat a Hydrangea properly. They do need protection to some degree and if someone plants it out where it's hit full force by wind over a cold winter in Z5, I suppose they could lose it. But we know you wouldn't do that.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Given that it was found and promoted by a breeder in Minnesota, one would think it'd be hardy practically everywhere. Then again, maybe that breeder has a zone 6 microclimate or uses smudge pots during cold spells... -jrf -- Jim Fisher Vienna, Virginia USA 38.9 N 77.2 W USDA Zone 7 Max. 105 F [40 C], Min. 5 F [-15 C]
