Buddleia do well here. So it must be dry heat rather than humid heat that they don't like.

I don't think so Kitty. I have a friend that grew one, of course I can't
recall the cultivar now. It was a silvery/lavender color. She grew it
against the hottest, driest part of the house, never watered it, and it was
probably 8 feet tall when she moved. Bloomed constantly. She's trying some
at her new place which has the same type of dry sandy soil as her old place
so we'll see how it goes.

I gave up on it. My soil is too wet I guess. Mine never did much of
anything and then pooped out a couple of years ago. Didn't feel like
messing with it again. Same with Buddleia. I don't know HOW people
get those things to do well. Not one single plant that I've ever
gotten, and there have been quite a few, have made it through an
entire season. I've tried them in different types of soils, no
water, lots of water, some water, no luck. And at different houses,
so I know it's not just this

yard.

I've had one since last summer, but it has grown poorly (why I
