Snow goose or swan?

Well...now I'm not even sure if it is a Canadian Goose. I looked up
photos of Canadian goslings and they have dark beaks and feet. This one
has an orange beak and feet. And it's down is white. The down on the
Canadians was kind of smokey colored. So...now what? I guess I just
wait
to see what it turns into. Such an odd thing to find a rather large
baby
gosling with no clue what it is. We went back to see if there were
others and we didn't see any. We asked all the neighbors if maybe they
had some baby geese, possibly one missing and they all said no. It's a
mystery.

Subject: [CHAT] Duck, duck - GOOSE
When I woke up yesterday, my DH wanted me to come and see what he had
done that morning. We bought 7 acres across the road and it was WAY
overgrown. He had been brushogging it for the last week but he cleared
away from the two ponds down there and it looked really NICE! So I
hopped on the tractor with him to see what he had done. While we were
driving around the ponds we saw a "duck" waddling really fast towards
us, then it jumped in the pond to swim after us. I looked at him and
said, "what the heck, is that one of OUR ducks that flew over here?"
He
said no, it was too white. Hmmm. So we went back to our tractoring,
spotted a cotten mouth snake, shot it and the "duck" was no where to
be
seen. I guess the gun startled it. A few minutes later..I look behind
us
and this "duck" is running, frantically after us over the pond dam. I
told Robert is was chasing us down. He didn't believe me. When we
turned
around he was running after us AGAIN. I said "stop, right now and find
out what is wrong with this poor thing". We had a heck of a time
catching it. The "duck" turns out to be a wild goose. It's a baby,
with
just a few pin feathers on it and all downy. He was soaking wet from
the
swim and shaking. So...we took him home and fed him, bought him a
kiddy
swimming pool and watched him half the day. He follows me all OVER the
place...he even walked in the HOUSE to keep up with me. It is the
sweetest baby I've ever seen. It must have been abandoned or
something.
Every year we see a pair of Canadian geese over there with a nest on
the
little island in the pond. Must be one of those babies that got left
behind. I just love it.
