Yes when they squint at you it means trust and that they like you. To gain their trust you should do the same thing. Don't stare at them. Just close your eyes briefly frequently. Then they know you trust them which makes it easier for them to reciprocate.

What does it mean when a cat closes (squints) ts eyes while you're talking to it? I understand arched back and hiss, and wide open eyes with ears up, but not that one.
