Yuck is right!
Tonight I watered all my pots and certain areas of my gardens. yes, I
know it is supposed to rain tonight (actually bad storms) but we have
missed so many of these I didn't want to chance it since I won't have
time in the morning. The wind has been crazy all day. Anyways, every
single potted plant was filled with moths (or what appeared to be moths
as they flew out). There were many deeply buried in each planter. Never
seen that many around here? Not sure where they all came from or if it
is a sign we are in for some bad weather tonight....

I'm up outside Boston now with my older sister- we
went to Garden in the Woods- and both Rhodies and
mountain laurel were in lovely bloom.
When we came home to plant a couple of plants she
picked up there (including an adorable double rue
anemone) we also noticed a zillion caterpillers on her
birch tree. We cut all the branches with them off and
put them in a bucket then went inside to see what they
were (good or bad?)- turns out they were birch sawfly
caterpillers. We promptly put all in a plastic
garbage back and sealed it shut. yuck!
