I have been blessed with neighbors who have gone the extra mile for us. Their teens helped us out, and as they moved on to their own lives, the parents took over. We gift them with cards for local restaurants and exotic goodies from our travels, plus reciprocate when they travel. I always water before I leave, which covers the plants for 4 days, then ask that they are watered every 4 days thereafter. The potted plants outside have to be watered every 2 days, and if I am gone for more than a week, I preposition my sprinkler and ask them to turn it on my vegetables for two hours mid trip.
