Yay!  I love the yellows.

Last year I had an entire flat of Butterfly Weed, potted up in quarts to grow on for sale end of August. They were covered with scores of Monarch caterpillars and most were naked by the sale date.  Had to put up a sign w explanation as some customers are novices and wouldn’t understand.

I have larvae of the giant swallowtail growing on my Meyer lemon. I am over the moon excited. I’m just sorry they didn’t pick the Poncirus trifoliata, which is an enormous tree in the yard.

Maybe I’m just not very observant but after all, I’m looking down a lot –digging, weeding, planting, mulching – but I saw my first butterfly today. It was my yellow swallowtail showing up to her host plant, Zizia (Golden Alexanders) which is in full bloom now. Always makes me smile.

The weather is fantastic, 68°F, blue skies and a light breeze. Just planted a bed of 7 different Baptisias with several other lower plants between them as it’s going to take several years for the Bs to establish. Took me longer than I thought, but then everything seems to take longer to accomplish these days.

So, anything you’d care to share?
