right. it's a close relative of the kapok tree. and the silk cotton [or cotton silk, i forget] tree. so the seeds are flossy like dandelions.

I'm sure you're right. A-Z says the seed pods are obovate-oblong,
 about six inches long; that doesn't sound like what's in the
picture. The seeds are supposed to be 'silky', maybe what seeds
in a cotton boll look like ?

brown (black in the upper right) spheres which might be
either unopened buds or seed pods. If it does set seed,
might I beg one from you ? I enjoy trying oddball plant
seeds and would like to see if they'd germinate and grow.
