Re: smoke tree

Does anyone out there know of a source for it's American cousin - Cotinus obovatus?

Anyone had any experience with a smoke tree (shrub)....like it? No? someone

has suggested this for me in my landscape..........
I have had a Cotinus coggyria 'Royal Purple' (smoketree) for a number of
years. I love the dark red foliage. I stool it each spring (did that last
weekend) to maintain the height I like and also this is suppose to help keep
the dark color.
My favorite ornamental tree is the Syringa amurensis japonica (Japanese
Tree Lilac).
