Re: Denver

I do indeed, you will be heading to the southwest corner of the state, then north into the mountains to some of the old gold mining towns. Durango is really near Mesa Verde - well worth a side trip to see the Cliff Dweller locations.

From what I understand it hits the following towns:

Starts in Denver, to Alamosa- to Durango(day trip, but two nights here) - to Ouray- to Leadville back to denver.

Hopefully someone knows where I am talking about :)

Donna, Not an old train, but the trip to Glenwood Springs via Glenwood
Canyon is really great, especially from the vista dome cars. When I went, I
traveled on the Denver&Rio Grande Western. If you go south of Denver,
there's several senic old time type, read steam powered, trains operating,
most of them require a few weeks or months advance registration.

Concerning my Denver request- I have an opportunity to take a train ride
in that area... 5 days, 5 towns, via a few different old trains thru the
countryside by Denver....

Curious if anyone has ever done this? Not sure I really want to do this
or not... anything a gardener would be interested in seeing in Aug?!?
