RE: OT--Music

My dad had the 8mm tapes from family members (aunts & uncles) taken to a
Video store who transferred them to video tape. We made copies for the
entire family at that time. Since tape degrades and Dad is gone, Bill and I
decided to preserve the images to digital and therefore to CD and eventually
then to DVD when we have a faster bus rate. Some of the darker images were
difficult to see, but with the tools in the software, we lightened them up
to be able to see facial features better. (Right now our PC is a little
under powered for what we want to do, so it is a somewhat slow process. A
faster processor would make this a piece of cake. We have the VCR hooked up
to a video jack in our PC's Video Card. With the aid of the program he
picked up, we can play the video and transfer it either to the PC in digital
format or directly to digital media (CD or DVD.) I'll see if I can get the
info on the name of the program for you, Zem.

Blessings,

Well, Bill picked up a program that allows him to take video from a VCR and
digitalize it onto a CD or a DVD.

I'm so technologically challenged! Here I am wondering how you get the VHS
tape into the computer, and I know that's not right. I have also found more
8
mm movies I would love to save.
