Pam, what the others have said is all good advice.  You don't have to  accept 
their first offer.  The adjusters do have wiggle room.  If you  have not 
signed a release yet, or a proof of loss yet, then I would keep  pushing.  Did you 
get estimates from contractors as to how much it will  cost to repair the 
damage?  Have you spoken to an attorney?  It is a  good idea to itemize the 
plants and show prices in catalogs to show their cost  to replace.
