regarding different types of "loppers", I actually have anvil loppers, by pass loppers & a ratchet type plus a pole saw. I really think it depends on what type of wood/tree/shrub you are trimming. I have much use for all of them on the 2 plus acres filled with trees that I am trying to build garden beds etc. As far as I am concerned, they are all great if they do the "job"
