Re: New Nursery Site and other stuff

Thanks, I did have it in mind for our cutting garden. Not all Lysimachias act aggressively if sited properly. It might be a good one for me to try as I like to have some'different' good multipliers to keep my stock up for my annual plant sale. SCN's website says hardy to Zone 4.

Kitty, I have not grown that Lysmachia, but I did ask Leigh Ballard, the owner of Sunny Creek, what she thought. Her answer follows:

"L 'Beaujolais' is a plant that Sue Hamilton of the UT Trial Gardens really liked in their garden. She said it had a really cool bloom and was long blooming. I am going to put some in the cutflower garden to see how they do, haven't grown it before but is supposed to be good for cuts, has long stems. It grows in sun, don't know yet if it spreads as some lysm. do. Seed literature says hardy to zone 4, altho Sue's plant didn't make it for whatever reason, probably unrelated to cold hardiness since they are zone 6b I think."

I think you will like Sunny Creek if you choose to give it a try.

Zem, Wish I'd seen your website sooner. I just finished listing sources for our plants and had trouble finding one for Helenium bigelovii 'Tip Top'. Ours is coming from a wholesaler and i only list retail sources. I only gave the list to two people so I'll add Sunny Creek in before it goes any further. thanks!

And, can you tell me anything about Lysimachia atropurpurea 'Beaujolais'? Have you grown it?

Sorry I haven't been "chatty" lately. I guess I've just been in a funk. I
did go to New York for a few days to visit my brother, and I apologize to
those of us who live near there. I would love to have gotten together with
you, but I just let him plan what we did. We did visit the Bronx Botanical
Garden, and that was a highlight of the trip. I was so impressed with their
conservatory.

The nursery where I work during the summer is now on-line. The site is
www.sunnycreeknursery.com. I hope you all can visit and see what Leigh has to
offer. Unfortunately, I'm not sure she will have Alternanthera this year.
