Wisteria Festival

I went to the Wisteria Festival in Sierra Madre this weekend, which proved
to be more festival than wisteria. They have the biggest flowering plant in
the world, supposedly over an acre of wisteria vine which is 112 years old
now. Because it is a private residence it is only open one day a year. It's
somewhat of an art to guess when the best bloom will be and they didn't
quite get it this time. I've seen it once before in dazzling array but this
time, while blooming, it wasn't as impressive. Sadly the rain and hail of
the day before also knocked off many blossoms. But it was fun, the
organizers put on a very nice event, and here are the pix of the vine.

I'm sure none of you will ever believe in sunny Southern Californa after
viewing my photos, everything I've shown you over the last year has been
cloudy! My friend has decided there must be a cloud over her head, every
time we head out to a botanical event we get wet. This time at least it
waited until the drive home. 
I included a couple photos of the snow. We got over an inch of snow at my
house on Friday, a rare event, and a little more on Saturday, and yet more
rain today. It's always good to get rain in the desert but darn it, I want
to plant my peas, and it's too soggy to go out there.
