That is thought-provoking. The liver filters for the body, so it makes sense that chicken livers could contain a lot of problematic stuff. Mick loves his treats, but I've tried not to overdo it. I did some googling and found some horrible details in all sorts of pet foods, not just treats. Just what are we supposed to do?

I got to thinking the other day about why so many animals seem to die of
cancer. I have this neat toy that my dog loves...you fill it full of these
little liver treats and the dog has to figure out how to move the toy to
get them. When I went to refill the toy, I read the label on the "liver
treats" and noticed that they were mostly made of chicken livers. I
remember reading over fifteen years ago that many scientists had stopped
eating chicken livers because of the chemical residues. So, I decided to
go another route. I am wondering if the food and treats we are feeding
our pets are so loaded with chemicals that they succumb to cancer.
Thoughts?

It'safew inches long by a couple inches high and has a pocket of gas inside.Astrong possibility is that it's wrapped around the intestines or viceversaand can't be removed or that if the mass can be removed it will set a lotofseed cancers which would be disastrous. It's not related to theheartworm, but wasn't easily detected a month ago (when HW was detected) because the mass (if it was there then) sort of pulls up to a hiding place. However, now it was easy to find because he'd lost more weight and when he's laidoutflat for the xray, it comes down and is more easily seen. I specifically asked about his strength level as to surviving surgery, andDr thinks he'll be ok. Today he ate a whole slice of roast beef for breakfast and anoher for lunch. It's not a lot, but it is protein, anditis something. I just hope it's enough.
Thanks for your concern.
