RE: OT: Reading suggestions for young adults
Yep, Heinlein could be a good one...I am trying to think of books that
might make a kid go "Oooh, I want to be a scientist when I grow up".
This is actually for a friend of mine, who reads things like "Nuclear
Physics Today" for fun, and is focused on the grandkids' intellects. I'm
thinking you can't force this sort of thing, but hey, books are always
good gifts.

Don't know how old or young you mean, but when I was about 14 or 15 I
discovered Robert Heinlein's short story "The Green Hills of Earth" in
the Saturday Evening Post and was immediately sucked into the world of
science fiction.
