I think the book was one of his last completed works before he passed away.
Early 60's because there were references to the Vietnam Conflict. John and
Charley(standard poodle with a lisp) went the Northern route. Maine, a bit
of Canada, Chicago, etc if I remember right. It does not look like that will
be your choice. I see you interstating on I 10 to maybe I35, to I80 and then
north to Oregon. Have a safe trip.
