Yes- I went down to Richmond? Pinole? one of those places, exit before you get to Berkley. She didn't have any veggies!!! I was crushed. Since I can get her stuff more locally, I doubt I'll make the trek all the way there again. Fun to see all zillion plants, but.... Of course I bought about 7 plants, and I haven't one inch of space- so I'll have to go do the selective digging thing (this one stays, this one goes). At least I have a friend with a new backyard who is happy to take any plant I will give her. I seriously need a bigger yard. Or as the guy I'm dating said to me this weekend- "you'd be happy living on a farm wouldn't you". At least he seems to understand me : )

Bought a couple of Salvias today...Salvia nemorosas. I still have the
tropical thing going but want to lean more toward butterfly and
hummingbird plants. Speaking of which I hacked down my buddleia plant
which thought was supposed to get to 6'. I planted it WAY to close to
the magnolia grandiflora and it was over 12' tall. Down it came and I
left two feet of the plant to leaf back out and hopefully attract some
monarchs or pink ladies.


Theresa did you go down to Richmond to see Annie or did she move again?

My aching back too. I re-doing the sink area of the master bathroom and today i finally managed to get the old vanity out. Good lord that thing was heavy. But at least it is gone, and most of the walls are painted. The plan for tomorrow is to get the tile down on the floor, so that I can return the tile saw first thing Monday morning. Weather is beautiful here too, and I got some plants from Annie's Annuals (nursery) on Friday. But they'll have to hang out and wait until next weekend I think.

Glorious day! A bit chilly, but that makes it easier to work. I cleaned up most of the back today and removed the straw from around my overwintered pots. I've removed some of the top layer of leaves too, but not all. Some is frozen. It was quite a thrill to remove the the top and find bright green leaves on the Chimney Bellflowers and the Hydrangeas with good buds on them.
I was out there this aftn until 7:30. I'm tired and achy from lifting and lugging a lot of heavy stuff. But things are looking good. I have iris and crocus blooming and so much coming up!
Tomorrow we open the MG nursery. I hope it doesn't rain as we have lots to do.
