Re: Kinda neat

Carpenter ants seem to be the next big thing. Is there any part of the US&A where they're not native or naturalized [how would one know the difference; ants is ants]? They're anywhere I've ever lived. And while the Orkin man may scare the bejeebies out of you about termites, termites are a quantum easier to deal with than carpenter ants--and, on average, a whole lot less destructive.

I've been doing the same thing Bonnie. Just had to spray the perimeter of the house for carpenter ants, they're bad this year because the winter was
mild and bone dry, they are rampant this year. *sigh*

I wish we were having some...I love to see snow gather on leaves and stems. We started out with a two inch surplus of precipitation in Jan. so I was hoping that we were off to a normal year. But, Feb., a normal 4" month only had 2" and March, a normal 5" month, hasn't even had .5" yet. It is harder and harder to keep plants that normally do well in this zone alive.
I am having to plant more and more drought tolerant things.

It's 43 degrees and snowing... really, just flurries. But the baby
flakes hit the window and turn into water as they slide down the pane.
Doesn't take much to amuse me, I guess.
