Re: Wow - brug

Well you could try to chop it back. It's kind of an ungainly plant so shaping is pretty much out of the question. The good news is cuttings root really easily [Marge sent me a bunch of them once and they all rooted] so if you whack it back, and pot up the carnage you could had a lot of plants for your plant sale... and I guarantee if you had one in bloom, the rest would sell muy pronto.

The last of the buds fell off, All that's left is the one big open flower. I expect it will put out more buds that will hang on this summer. If I could keep it small enough, I might keep it over one year to enjoy it and then sell it next year. It's a real trooper, so I kinda hate to part with it.

Brugmansia seem to like cooler weather. Mine only blooms really well from fall through Spring, and really slows down in the heat of summer. They really seem to adapt well to cooler climates, some species won't even grow in hot climates, as well as a lot of the new hybrids that are coming out of Europe. I've tried numerous times, as have others, to grow some of these, without success. So I think you should hold on to it too, Kitty......might actually
really be worth the effort.

A friend gave me a start from her Brugmansia last year. I potted it on to a

larger size when I grought it in to the garage for the fall. I had no
intention of keeping it as they get so huge and I do not intend to do the dragging every year, so it is going in my plant sale next month. Guess,
what....the darned thing is blooming! In the cold garage!
