If I have to move them, I try to do it in the fall after they have bloomed
and dwindled. But that's how I missed the one in the chicken yard. It had
dwindled too much and I didn't SEE it. But I have also had success by
transplanting them very early in the season. Just mulch it really good to
protect the exposed roots from any early cold snaps. I know people say that
peonies don't like to be moved...but mine have never really grumbled at me.
I might miss a season of blooms...but they always come back.
