Ceres, I am still a member, mostly out of habit. In fact I think my DH
renewed twice a couple of years ago, so that the membership
extends into the future. AHS was one of the first things I treated
myself to when we began to be able to afford the little extras
about 40 years ago. I enjoy the magazine, though I find it less
interesting than I used to - all garden magazines seem to repeat
themselves on a fairly regular schedule, and now that I've been
writing a monthly newsletter for my club for about 10 years, I can
understand why. I used to take advantage of the seed exchange,
but haven't for several years. They don't seem to offer things I
need or want any more. I have a Sophora japonica (Chinese
Scholar Tree) of about 13 inch caliper - can't guess how many
feet tall - that I started from seed from the AHS exchange about
30 years ago, and several other plants I got like that. As I said,
it's mostly habit now. But give them credit - that's how this group
first got together, even if they did kick us out.
