The Itea was 'Little Henry' (thinking front of the border) I have 'Henry's Garnet' in a couple other locations, and 'Saturnalia' in the swamp. Dirr is less than enthusiastic about 'Saturnalia' but it was found in Missouri and he is in Georgia. Mine are still adjusting - got them last year - will wait and make my own judgment.

That's why I like mailorder; you can get something different. There are one
or two nurseries reasonably near me that I can check for interesting stuff,
but most places carry pretty standard stuff. Playing it safe, I guess.
re the Itea you got - was it Henry's Garnet? I love that one. We carry
that in our MG nursery.

I made "the rounds" yesterday, mostly looking for native shrubs for the
mixed shrub border I'm creating. Not much success - around here, most
places carry the usual mix of spirea and non native viburnum. Couldn't
even find a Hamamelis vernalis!
Did pick up a Viburnum trilobum, 2 Hydrangea quercifolia 'Alice', a
Fothergilla gardenii, an Itea virginica, and a Clethra alnifolia
'Hummingbird' (for another location). Found a Baptisia sphaerocarpa
'Screaming Yellow', that I've wanted for awhile (occasionally our
nurseries surprise me), and got some of those new "Kong" coleus to put
in containers in the shade. Saw some other interesting perennials, but
ran out of space in the car, so had to leave them for another time.

Thunbergia, PM Millet. Everything else I did by mailorder.
And boy, were they busy! Everyone had the same idea of getting a jump
start
on the weekend. And geez, it was hot! Clear skies and lots of sun.
This
see-saw weather is a pain.
