Thanks, Kitty. It's interesting that Hortus Third (I know it's old, but
it was the standard) says Imperata, a name of no botanical
standing used for Miscanthus sacchariflorus. I think what
sounded "off" to me was the koenigli 'Red Baron' which sounded
much more German than Japanese.
