I have sent fresh tomatoes [two will do it] in a plastic bag. The post office kindly squashes the fruit and all the recipient has to do is separate the seeds from the pulp. There are 10 to 15 seeds per tomato, I'd guess, and they germinate readily, fresh or dried.
