If you don't think he's in any danger I see no reason why you couldn't just talk to him. That's what I have done with all the older (1 yr old+) cats who have come to me. I know well enough that if any come inside they don't go back out. I guess whatever you choose to do would depend upon you, the cat and where you live.

I hope we'll all be friends. I've never been owned by a cat before.

It's a tough go. Another round of Thunderstorms went through, and now he's
under the cowling of the tractor motor. This is the little guy that got
scared off a dish of food because a fly landed on it.

I'm not sure now whether to keep on watch with the crate/trap, or just keep feeding and talking to him until he's ready.
