I planted it last summer. This spring I gave it a good cutting to neaten it up and it responded by really filling out. I think cutting back after flowering, like candytuft, would keep it in shape.

Kitty,I grew phuopsis stylosa for many years at the base of a rose bush in my pink and white garden. I enjoyed it, but it would get a bit messy. It tended towander and snake around plants, or grow up through others. When it wasn't flowering, it looked kind of weedy. Sadly, I finally discarded it for neater, less space consuming plants. Wish I had tried cutting it back, that might have done the trick! Good luck!
