Re: AHS webinar

Without speakers, you'll need to be pretty good at lip reading, I think. :)

Is all that going to work on a dial up connection and no speakers?

yes and you have to download something... but it all went pretty smooth. I

I loved it !

How does a webinar work? You mention registering. So, once you
register, you have to be at your computer at a specific time for the
event?

Jesse,
When did you get to do this? Here is a list of the webinars for this

director of horticultural research for the New England Wild Flower
Society.

a.. May 8. New and Unused Woody Plants for American Gardens by Dan
Hinkley, plantsman and former owner of Heronswood Nursery. Registration
now open.

a.. July 8. Designing with Color and Texture for Visionary Effects by garden designer and author Tracy DiSabato-Aust. Registration will open
June 10.

a.. October 16. Design and Plants for Woodland Gardens by author and
plantsman C. Colston Burrell. Registration will open in September

Yeh...I sat through one of the webinars on my lunch break. The guy from
Georgia....oh man...his name escapes me at the moment...but he's got all
kinds
of books out there and he teaches at the University of Georgia....(help
me out
here...). Anyway - he did one on new varieties of colorful annuals and
perennials. It was great.

It was great. I love sitting in
my living room and Dan Hinkley is in his
home just talking live to me! You
could ask questions via a chat line but
no one else can see what you asked.
Then after the talk was over Dan
answered the questions. He also offered
his website.
I have one of the plants that he mentioned... a Phormium tenax
rubrum. I
found it last week at Lowe's..... on sale! I think I am going to
love it.

Interesting. My American

Gardener arrived this AM and I read about the

webinars--just haven't gotten

around to signing on yet.

I was able to sign on and listen to my first webinar with AHS today.

Did

anyone else get to hear Dan Hinkley talk about New and Underused

Woody

Plants?

It is free to AHS members, I had let my membership drop but signed

up

again this spring. I am very excited for this to be available to us

as

a new way to learn without having to leave home.
