My house had Bishop's weed, Goutweed, Bishop's gout when we bought it in 1985. Any little piece left in the ground will sprout. But I did eventually banish it. There is hope, Chris! But 1 qt to 30ft in 2yrs for the ragweed...that's scary! Kitty -----Original Message----- From: owner-gardenchat@hort.net [o*@hort.net] On Behalf Of Christopher P. When I bought this house 22 years ago the beds were nothing but Bishop's gout (the non-variegated form). I dug out a lot, but it always seems to come back and has taken hold in the front of the house. I'm not sure what to do. The ragwort was my fault. I saw one in a quart-sized pot and thought it looked so cute, so I planted it in a little corner of the garden. Within two years it had consumed a 30' stretch of the flowerbed and was even beating back the Bishop's gout. It does look pretty in the spring, though. If I wasn't working or taking care of kids I think I could win this battle, but there are too many hands on my time right now.
