Re: Happy T-Day everyone

Pretty traditional here, smallish turkey, cornbread dressing, rolls, mashed potatoes & gravy, relish tray, waldorf salad. Persuaded Ed's mom to come. Last year, it was too hard on her to be next to the home she left for the retirement center. This year she just enjoyed being with family. Oldest daughter & kids couldn't make it, but the 3 families in town were here. Windy windy windy 40 - 55F. Simmering the bones & skin, etc for soup. Will make a turkey pot pie tomorrow and of course, turkey & cream cheese sandwich (on pecan cranberry bread) tonight. If there's too much turkey left after the pot pie, I'll freeze some for a week or so. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Zemuly Sanders" <zsanders@midsouth.rr.com>

I had a great day. I cooked every instant product made at my son's house and remembered on the way home that the pickles and olives are still in the refrigerator at his house -- unopened. It was extremely relaxing.

I just had to chime in ... Jim I can't wait to hear how your turkey turned out. I fixed a 20lb turkey that I stuffed the insides with the ends of 2 celery, orange, lemon, onion, salt and pepper. I saw on one of the food channels to put pats of butter under the skin so I tried that this year. I think this was the best turkey EVER. I always make the dressing like my mom did but this year it was the worst I have ever made. :-( I think I toasted the bread and cornbread too much, chopped the onions and celery too much and added too much sage, yuck!
Oh well it is over!
I hope everyone had a great day. It was beautiful here... about 70 something sunny and no wind. I wish we had our Christmas lights up but maybe tomorrow!

so, how'd the bid taste? I did a simple breast in a cooking bag, came out moist and tasty. Had way too much food, but it all seemed to come out on time. Cleaning up now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have lots to be thankful for.

Just put the bird--well, just the breast--in the oven. Trying something new this year; I covered it with a chipotle-pasilla paste [of my own making].
