I am just one zone south of you, 6b, so I hope the Callicarpa lives through ok. The place I am thinking of putting it is a southern exposure but with some shade during the heat of the day. Not much supplemental water, unless I fix up some soaker hoses. I have a gardener friend that said he lost a fothergilla so I am not sure I can do well with them but they are so beautiful I think it is worth the 15.00 gamble. I do have lots of different kinds of hollies. Is there a certain pollinator for Possumhaw?

Callicarpa americana is marginal here. Mine is planted in a very
protected, west facing nook. Gets afternoon sun. Dies to the ground
most winters, but has consistently returned. Lovely purple berries
this year. Do you have Ilex decidua pollinators for "Cherry Berry"?
Fothergilla is very temperamental around here. I have a couple doing
quite well, but another two dead or dying. Cannot figure it out...

The Chamaecyparis he recommended as one of the hardiest in for our
area. The Callicarpa is loaded with purple berries and the
Fothergilla has wonderful fall color.
Do any of you have any recommendations for where to plant them or
what they need.  He told me to remember that the dogwood is still a
dogwood and would need water no matter where he got it from.
