Or Feliway also helps and that you don't actually have to get into the cat, you can just spray it is their environment. (and it doesn't smell like anything to people after a couple of minutes)

did you try Bach's Rescue Remedy which seems to calm them down?  It's a
distillation of herb & flower essense and you just put a few drops in
their
water dishes.  When I started doing that with Little Bit she finally
came
out of hiding.

Well, my newest edition is really settled in.  She does sleep in the
bathroom though- so that the other cats and I all get some sleep.

I've

done the thing where you put the new cat in a separate room from the
others, and then change that room everyday.  This way the whole house
smells like the new cat, before any of the existing cats ever see the
new one.  Supposed to make the new comer less threatening since they
don't smell new anymore by the time they are face-to-face.  I do think
this works the best from my experience.  With my kitten I just didn't
have time or will-power to do this, so we just let everyone have to

deal

with this.  Which after a week or so, worked out too.  Helps that this
was a kitten though.

My niece and her husband are moving back east, and asked if we

to adopt their cat. Moe is an adult, and very friendly. DH would
really like to, but we already have three, ages 10 to 2. All

introductions were kittens. Any hints on integrating adult cats in

household? We will also be gone each month (for varying time

frames)

Jan - Mar, so there will be times we will not be there to mediate.
