Looks like mine might have buds, but too soon for me to tell (and since I've never seen them before, I'm not sure what I'm looking at!) I'll keep you posted! I would be so excited if I get buds and fruit in the first year!

Don't know about California, but this is the time of year in Florida when they start to bud up [depending on cultivar]. They are generally the first trees to fruit--which makes them susceptible to all kinds of goofy fluctuations in the winter weather. But given the right combinations temps over a period of time, and you get a terrific crop of very tasty fruit. On Nov 10, 2008, at 8:59 PM, Theresa G. wrote:The new tree seems to be happy where I planted it. So, going to get a Santa Rosa plum- figure I can't go wrong with that one given where I live. And it doesn't need a pollinator.--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHATIsland Jim Willamette Valley 44.99 N 123.04 W Elevation 148' 39.9" Precipitation Hardiness Zone 8/9 Heat Zone 5 Sunset Zone 6 Minimum 0 F [-15 C] Maximum 102 F [39 C] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
