Yoohoo!

I hope everyone is very happily busy after having had a great Thanksgiving.
Ours was quiet, but pleasant. Chet took me out for a mid-day dinner at a
nice restaurant. I had made tentative plans for a traditional dinner to
include the two foreign-born neighbors and our Thai friend, but Chet thought
it was too much on top of the big job I was just finishing up. He was
probably right.
Finally had one half-day of almost nice weather on Tuesday, so I was able
to get my bulbs in. Whew! While poking around in the beds to plant the
bulbs I discovered that two of my Hellebores have buds coming up about
an inch. That's much too early - they usually peep out during the February
thaw if there is one. I guess they're tough enough to take whatever comes.
The weather continues to be most disagreeable - mostly cloudy and in the
50s, but no real rain. Today is very windy and chillier - still cloudy.
At
least it has blown away most of the leaves. Chet had paid a crew of what
he calls landscrapers to clean up the leaves a couple of weeks ago. It
didn't seem to matter to him that the leaves weren't all down. He has
always seemed to expect nature to abide by his schedule instead of the
other way around, so I didn't say anything - wouldn't have done any good
and somehow I would end up being to blame. Anyway, no sooner than
the leaf-blowers had gone than the two large hickories, the Bradford pear
and the Gingko dropped their leaves and you couldn't even tell we had
once been cleaned up. Today's wind has taken most of them away.
Has anyone heard from Jesse Rene about Brandi? I hope she is doing
better. I well know how difficult it is to watch our offspring having
problems that we know they have to deal with themselves.
Once again, I hope everyone's holiday was blessed. Friendship is one
of the things we have to be most thankful for.
