Re: PETA and "snowball"

Well, I know this is a GARDENING list, but I know a lot of you love animals too. For those of you so inclined to do so...would you please put my husband's cat on your prayer list? He is not doing so well and it breaks my heart. My husband is beside himself because he is already so attached to it. Last night I fixed some chicken broth and ground up some vitamin C and B-complex and dissolved it in the broth. He drank quite a bit of it and felt better but this morning he was having a difficult time breathing again. He is sneezing so hard his nose is bleeding from ruptured veins in his nose. He is sicker than the animal shelter realized. I am bound and determined to nurse this little guy back to health. But I believe in the power of prayer...so thanks in advance to those of you who will include him in your prayers.

Good for you for adopting. I hope the new meds will make him well soon.

"Our" Snowball was also from a chicken truck. One of the women from the main
PETA office was in Georgia and found Snowball under a Con-Agra truck at a
processing plant. Since she looked sick, she asked if she could take her and
was told yes. She found a vet who would treat the bird for dehydration, then
kept her in her room at the Days Inn until the local rescue grapevine sent
her in my direction.
Friendly bird, but they're so genetically changed that she didn't live very
long - only a couple of years compared to my other guys who sometimes reach
10. We tried special low calorie feeds and lots of exercise (free range),
but her heart just wasn't able to keep up. I'm not sure that that wasn't a
blessing though, since she was having trouble w/arthritic changes in her
hips.
