More evidence of same - Our custom in most cases when vacationing is to
pick a destination state and, with no set agenda, just start driving
stopping as the mood strikes us and going where the road takes us. Many
years ago we were driving around in the Colorado Rockies and stopped at
the only cafi in a very small town. The owners had mounted a large US
map on the wall and asked visitors to put a push pin in their home
towns. When I put my pin in Pine Bluff, Ar. an older couple seated
nearest the map watched and exclaimed "Pine Bluff! We're from Pine
Bluff, too." We enjoyed a lovely meal with those home town strangers.

Kitty, theres always that chance. Several yrs ago we were riding
Ragbrai(Registers great bike ride across iowa) which draws 10,000 riders
from most or all
states & many countries depending on the yr. We stay at homes and many
times
the host will have several groups/families. My husband & I arrd at the
starting community, went to the home where we were spending the night
and where my
brother & SIL from Calif were meetng us. Another couple were already
there
and in conversation said they had a daughter living in California & how
strange, the same city my brother lives, Morgan Hill. When my brother
arrvd the
conversation turned to Morgan Hill again and discovered the daughter
lived next
door to my brother. Small world!
