Okay, Jim, I'd love some, too. However, I think I'd better get mine next spring. I do have some salvias that are listed as hardy to 8a, and I've had them for years.

Dave's Garden says hardy to 8a [10 degrees F]. If you want to try some, I can dig some seedlings now or in the spring or whenever. That goes for anyone who wants some. I've done a lackadaisical job of controlling them this year, so I'll have a zillion seedlings between now and May.

Jim & Noreen, I am assuming this thing is not hardy up here in zone 8A, am I
correct?

in
landscaping, perhaps for the reason that it does reseed so much. I've
had my
purple one for a number of years, almost a decade, it is doing well.
Would you like a cutting from the white one??

I have the purple one, Noreen. It's something of a nuisance here--seeds
all around. Not exactly invasive because, if you're diligent and own a
machete, you can control it. I suspect this is why it's not used in
local landscaping.
But it is quite pretty and, in spite of myself, I'm somewhat fond of
it--so I always allow two or three volunteers survive. And you are
quite right about profuse blooming times--right now we've got several
masses of purple along the back fence.
I don't know how long it lives in your area, but here it look pretty
tatty after about 3 years.
