Theresa-there is another ornamental pear that is stonger than bradofrd- Calliope, or calypso, or something with a "C" It was bred after all the bradfors started splitting down the middle. Just a suggestion in case you want another. How about a crepe myrtle? Those are always great IMO.

Thanks for the advice - but I already know the tree is my responsibility. They came out and cleaned up the half that fell into the street earlier this year when it split, but made it clear that the tree was on my property, not the right of way (apparently the right of way only includes the sidewalk and area between the sidewalk and street).

When we moved here, the subdivision planted trees there. Mine died, so I was 
going to replace it.  Found out there was a 'list' of trees that could be
