HI Theresa -- I actually have 3 pistache and chose them for the fall color and really like them. . (I'm in Grass Valley). I water them a little during the summer, lots here along streets that don't get any. Of course they do lose their leaves, starting soon now. Good luck! --Barbara Tandy -----Original Message----- >From: Theresa <3a6a532b1@rewrite.hort.net> >Sent: Oct 5, 2018 2:52 PM >To: GardenChat <gardenchat@hort.net> >Subject: [CHAT] Low water medium sized tree for Sacramento valley > >Hi all! Looking for idea to replace the ash tree in my front yard (it’s roots are threatening my foundation). The arborist I had come out was completely useless- he just said to plant a Chinese pistache with no other ideas. The tree would get full south and west sun exposure. I was looking at Desert Willow and also Palo Verde trees as possibilities. Hoping some other ideas can be shared.
