Desert willow are very nice. Look at both chilopsis and chitalpa. They are deciduous though. I wouldn’t recommend palo verde for you. Let’s see...
Take a look at the acacias, maybe acacia salicina. I like acacia farnesiana but there are thorns. Texas ebony is evergreen small tree but thorny. 
In CA I used to have a silk tree (albizzia?) that did fine in my xeriscape area. But messy, and late to leaf out.

Hi all!  Looking for idea to replace the ash tree in my front yard (it’s roots are threatening my foundation).  The arborist I had come out was completely useless- he just said to plant a Chinese pistache with no other ideas.   The tree would get full south and west sun exposure.    I was looking at Desert Willow and also Palo Verde trees as possibilities. Hoping some other ideas can be shared.   Thx
