My hot toddy is similar, one freshly squeezed lemon, strained, a couple tablespoons of honey, a shot glass of whisky (more or less, I usually do MORE...medicinal purposes only ya know) and hot water. Works like charm. Honey is a true gift of nature...absolutely NO bacteria can grow in it....and it helps with allergies if you use the kind harvested from your neck of the woods. I use honey as a sugar substitute in most everything.

Now, my Irish grandmother's cure for colds/virus was a hot toddy! Juice of half a lemon, 2 cloves, half a cinnamon stick, 2-4 ounces of whiskey in a mug, then fill it with boiling water. Even if it didn't cure anything, you felt better afterward!

And FWIW, the cure for the flu is drinking hot jello... coats your
stomach, keeps you from dehydration, and sugar gives you a bit of
energy....

Sorry to get you all up in arms... But I will say that what ever it was
I had, I thought I was gonna die!
